At Rainbow Plaza, located on the 8th floor of the Tenjin IMS Building, free counseling regarding immigration, residency and citizenship, and legal and personal issues is available to foreigners living in Fukuoka.

To maintain a safe and comfortable life in Japan, it is necessary for foreign residents to have correct knowledge about residency status and term of stay regulations. Are there any questions or concerns you have? A gyousei-shoshi, or administrative lawyer, from the Fukuoka Gyousei-shoshi Lawyers Association, who specializes in such matters, will answer your questions and offer consultation about topics such as the Japanese immigration system and residency status.

Consultations are held every second Sunday of the month, in December that will be the 14th. They are offered from 1 to 4 PM. Please note you are required to register by 3:30 PM.

There are English and Chinese translators present, and so consultation in English, Chinese and Japanese does not require a reservation. For consultation in other languages, please contact Rainbow Plaza at least one week prior to your visit, as an interpreter might be arranged.

Also, legal consultations at Rainbow Plaza are available from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM on the first and third Saturdays of every month. On each day, up to four people can sign up for consultation. Each session runs for approximately 45 minutes including time for interpretation, if necessary. If you’ll need an interpreter, mention that when you make your reservation and Rainbow Plaza will make arrangements. The service is available by appointment only, and a lawyer from the Fukuoka Bar Association will offer the consultation.

Free personal counseling with a Japanese clinical psychologist is also available at Rainbow Plaza. Services are offered in English or Japanese, every Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Reservations are required, and the staff at Rainbow Plaza will arrange appointment times with the psychologist.

If you choose to use these services, you should know that confidentiality is guaranteed. Relax and feel at ease to take advantage of these complementary services, even for your smallest of concerns.
