Here’s information from Fukuoka City about second annual marathon. The Fukuoka Marathon 2015 is going to be held on Sunday, November 8th.

Last year, the November Fukuoka Marathon 2014 had over 12,000 runners, 3,000 volunteers and about 210,000 supporters cheering from the sidelines. It was a city-wide celebration. This year, the fixed number of places for runners possessing an address in either Fukuoka City or Itoshima City is being expanded from 1,000 to 2,000, in hope to make it an even more popular event than it already is!

To qualify for participation in the marathon, other than high school students, you must be born on April 1st 1997 or before, and be able to complete the entire 42.195 km course within 6 hours and 45 minutes. For the wheelchair race, anyone of junior high school age or older who can complete the entire 5.2 kilometer course within 30 minutes in a racing wheelchair may join. Anyone of junior high school age or older who can complete the 5.2 kilometer course within 50 minutes qualifies for the Fun Run.

It costs 10,000 yen to participate in the full marathon for anyone living in Japan. It is 12,000 yen for those coming from outside of Japan. For both foreign and domestic participants in the wheelchair race or Fun Run, it is 3,000 yen to for those of high school age and older, and junior high school students may participate for 2,000 yen.

Applications are being taken by Internet until 5 PM on May 22nd. Payment made using the designated money transfer form at any JP Bank or Post Office will be accepted as long as post marked no later than the 15th of May. Results for the lottery for spots for residents of Fukuoka City and Itoshima City will be announced around the 20th of June. Listings for general spots will be made public at the end of June.

Next up is information regarding the Ganreku! Festa 2015 in the Higashi ward of Fukuoka City to be held at the Gannosu Recreation Center. The event will take place on the national holiday, May 5th, and on Sunday, June 7th, from 9 AM through 4 PM. There is no entrance fee.

This festival, taking place at the Gannosu Recreation Center, will be fun for everyone from children to adults! In addition to stage events and markets featuring lots of delicious foods, there will also be plenty of opportunities to have fun moving your body at sports corners, featuring baseball and soccer events, as well as at physical strength assessment centers and quiz cycling.

Also, as a “Wakataka Support” special event, there will be a Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS baseball game with the team’s second stringers you can watch if you purchase tickets. Spectators will be able to receive a limited-edition Hawks towel. Tickets for high school students or older will be available for 1,200 yen, and 600 yen for those 4-years-old through junior high school students. Tickets for the May 5th game are on sale now and can be purchased through Lawson Ticket, Ticket PIA, or at the FUKUOKA YAHUOKU! DOME #7 Ticket Booth. Tickets for the June 7th match will go on sale tomorrow, April 26th.
