Every first and third Thursday of the month, there is a “Japanese Chat Salon” being held in the Fukuoka City International Foundation large conference room on the 5th floor of Fukuoka City Hall’s North Annex. It’s a place where foreign students studying Japanese in Fukuoka, including students of Japanese language schools, and local Japanese volunteers can get together in a relaxed atmosphere and talk.

Sessions start at 1:30 PM and run through 5 PM. Participants are free to come and go as they please during the session, and participation is free! Reservations are not necessary, however if you plan to attend in a group of 5 or more people please contact the Fukuoka Foreign Student Support Association prior to your arrival.

Anyone who wants to use Japanese they have studied previously, or just talk with a native Japanese person, this is your chance!

Rainbow Plaza, located on the 8th floor of the IMS Building in Tenjin, offers free consultation regarding health matters for foreigners in Fukuoka.

Free health consultations are held every Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM. There, a volunteer Japanese medical doctor will try to answer your questions about health problems, medical services and the Japanese medical system. Consultation is available in English or Japanese.

Do you worry about your health but have no idea which hospital to go to, or are you worried about going to hospitals because you lack confidence in your Japanese language skills? These services may be right for you. Reservations are not necessary, so please feel at ease to stop in and share your concerns.

Rainbow Plaza is open from 10 AM until 8 PM.
