Here’s information from Rainbow Plaza about the annual Home Visit Program for International Students.

The annual Home Visit Program for International Students, started in 1989, introduces international students enrolled in colleges or language schools in the Fukuoka metropolitan area and Japanese families in Fukuoka interested in international exchange, providing the opportunity for them to meet regularly and deepen mutual understanding.

Participants visit Japanese host families at their home and enjoy time together, such as conversation over meals. Each student-family pair is free to decide on where and how they would like to spend time together. In principle, the period of exchange between host families and foreign students is from November of this year until March of next year. However, over the years, many have kept in touch with each other of their own accord, even after the home visit program’s conclusion.

Interested parties, should fill out an application form and send it by mail, or bring it directly to Rainbow Plaza, by Friday, October 10th. Application forms are available at the international student section of colleges and language schools, as well as at Rainbow Plaza. The first time for families and participants to meet is scheduled for Sunday, November 16th.

Rainbow Plaza, located on the 8th floor of the IMS Building in Tenjin, offers free consultation regarding health matters for foreigners in Fukuoka.

Do you, or someone you know, worry about health issues but have no idea which hospital to go to, or are you worried about going to hospitals because you lack confidence in your Japanese language skills?

Free health consultations are held every Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM. There, a volunteer Japanese medical doctor will try to answer your questions about health problems, medical services and the Japanese medical system. Consultation is available in English or Japanese.

Reservations are not necessary, so please feel at ease to stop in and share your concerns.

Rainbow Plaza is open from 10 AM until 8 PM.
