The announcement from the Fukuoka International Exchange Foundation is about Global Stage Fukuoka.

At the Global Stage Fukuoka residents of Fukuoka who have been active internationally are invited to be guest speakers, and offer seminars on a wide variety of topics. The former chairman of the Southern California Fukuoka Association, Kihachiro Tajima, will be speaking at the next session.

Mr. Tajima has a second-generation American-Japanese father and a Japanese wife, and carries out research on the immigration of Japanese to America. In addition, he volunteers at the Japanese American National Museum, located in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, and offers guests guided tours covering over 100 years of history, outlining the experiences of Japanese descendants in America. He also brings his vivacious energy to different lectures and seminars.

He will speak on the theme Japanese Immigration to America-Overcoming Adversity, Maintaining Japanese Pride. The seminar will introduce the life and history of the many Japanese seeking a better life in the far-off lands of the American continent through the story of a movie, The Vancouver Asahi, that stars Satoshi Tsumabuki and which will be debuting on Saturday December 20th. There will be a raffle giving away tickets for the movie showing as a prize.

The event takes place on Tuesday, December 9th, from 7 PM, at Arena Hall, located on the first floor of ACROS Fukuoka. There is no fee to attend the event, but prior registration is required.
