The Fukuoka International School, established in 1972, raises internationally-minded, capable students, supporting internationalization in Fukuoka, as well as for all parts of Kyushu.

There are currently around 220 students, with 26 different nationalities, between kindergarten and high school age, learning at the Fukuoka International School. And, when you include the teachers, there are about 30 different nationalities represented!

The Fukuoka International School will be holding its Spring Festival 2015 on Saturday, April 18th, between 10 AM and 2:30 PM. It will be packed with international flavor like you’re only going to find at the Fukuoka International School.

There will be a flea market, various food stalls offering international cuisine, song and dance performances, a lottery and lots of other things to enjoy! Don’t miss it!

The Spring Festival will take place at the Fukuoka International School, located in Momochi, in the Sawara Ward of Fukuoka City. There is no parking available. If you come by car you will have to find a paid parking facility. If you come via subway, get off at Fujisaki Station. It is approximately a 10 minute walk from there. And Fukuoka City also has an announcement about the Yokadock Medical Exam and Yokadock 30.

Fukuoka City is offering services called Yokadock and Yokadock 30. They look to help prevent diseases often linked to lifestyle, such as diabetes. Depending upon the results of exams, doctors, health nurses, dietitians or other specialists respond to patients and help them reassess their lifestyle habits.

Things such as high blood sugar, high blood pressure, and being overweight lead to health problems such as heart attack, stroke, and cause sickness and can have a large impact on your life and lifestyle. It’s probably a good idea to check and see if your lifestyle puts you at risk.

Program services included are height and weight measurement, blood pressure measurement, blood screening, urine analysis and EKGs. Services such as these normally cost up to ¥10,000 out of pocket but you can receive all these services for only ¥500 if you qualify. Those eligible for Yokadock are those between the ages of 40 and 74 who are enrolled in the National Health Insurance of Fukuoka City. Those eligible for Yokadock 30 are 30 to 39-year-olds who are citizens of Fukuoka City. Both programs’ services are available for only ¥500, but households categorized as being exempt from city tax, and those over 70 years of age, can receive service free of charge!

There are over 570 locations in the city that provide these services. Also, services can be received on weekday evenings, Saturdays and holidays at the Health Promotion Support Center located in Airefu in Maizuru, 2 cho-me, in the Chuo Ward of Fukuoka City. Childcare is available. Don’t pass up this chance.
