Rainbow Plaza, located on the 8th floor of the IMS Building in Tenjin, offers free consultation regarding legal and personal matters for foreigners in Fukuoka.

Legal consultations at Rainbow Plaza are available from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM on the first and third Saturdays of every month. On each day, up to four people can sign up for consultation. Each session runs for approximately 45 minutes including time for interpretation, if necessary. If you’ll need an interpreter, mention that when you make your reservation and Rainbow Plaza will make arrangements. The service is available by appointment only, and a lawyer from the Fukuoka Bar Association will offer the consultation.

Free personal counseling with a Japanese clinical psychologist is also available at Rainbow Plaza. Services are offered in English or Japanese, every Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Reservations are required, and the staff at Rainbow Plaza will arrange appointment times with the psychologist.

If you choose to use the legal or personal counseling services, you should know that confidentiality is guaranteed. Relax and feel at ease to take advantage of these complementary services.

Every first and third Thursday of the month, there is a “Japanese Chat Salon” being held in the Fukuoka City International Foundation large conference room on the 5th floor of Fukuoka City Hall’s North Annex. It’s a place where foreign students studying Japanese in Fukuoka, including students of Japanese language schools, and local Japanese volunteers can get together in a relaxed atmosphere and talk. The next session is scheduled to take place on May 7th.

Sessions start at 1:30 PM and run through 5 PM. Participants are free to come and go as they please during the session, and participation is free! Reservations are not necessary, however if you plan to attend in a group of 5 or more people please contact the Fukuoka Foreign Student Support Association prior to your arrival.

Anyone who wants to use Japanese they have studied previously, or just talk with a native Japanese person, this is your chance!
