Here’s information from Fukuoka city about Fukuoka Museum Week 2016. The Fukuoka Museum Week brings you a chance to go around to history and art museums in the city so you can get to know the art and culture of Fukuoka. It’s going on now through Sunday, May 22nd.

There are 14 different locations participating: Fukuoka City Museum, Fukuoka Art Museum, Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art, Fukuoka City Archaeology Center, Hakata Machiya Folk Museum, Hakata Traditional Craft And Design Museum, Oh Sadaharu Baseball Museum, the Kyushu University Museum, Museum of Kyushu Sangyo University, Seinan Gakuin University Museum, Art Gallery Artium, Noko Museum, and Fukuoka City Zoological and Botanical Gardens.

There are a variety of special events planned at each of the participating venues, including things like talkshows and workshops. On May 21st, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, in AJIBI Hall, located on the 8th floor of the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Masashi Mitsui, a traveler of Asian countries and photographer, will have a talkshow. There are seats for 120 people to attend, and they will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Just search “Fukuoka Museum Week” and reserve your spot on the homepage.

Also, when you bring the event leaflet with you during Museum Week, at some of the participating museums, entrance and permanent exhibition viewing fees are discounted or free! Furthermore, when you participate in the stamp rally and collect the stamps at two of the fourteen different participating locations, you will be eligible to win pair tickets to special exhibitions at the museums, pair tickets to a performance at Hakataza, or other special prizes. The stamp rally takes place in cooperation with Kitakyushu city’s Kitakyushu Museum Week 2016.
