Fukuoka city has begun dispersing city information via the LINE communication application.

You can choose the topics on which you would like to be notified, for example, on important lifestyle announcements regarding things like garbage disposal or child rearing information, as well as on PM 2.5 air pollution reports, evacuation advisories and more.

And, when you add Fukuoka city as a friend in your LINE account by July 23, you'll get an original LINE stamp as a present! Be sure to make use of this service. The account name is "Fukuoka city", with the line ID of "@fukuokacity".

And Fukuoka city also has an announcement to let you know that Fukuoka prefecture and Fukuoka city work together to offer the Fukuoka Asian Medical Support Center, in order to help create an environment providing medical care for foreigners.

The Fukuoka Asian Medical Support Center recently brought its phone interpretation service and its foreign language medical care guide service together, and now offers the Multilingual Medical Information Service Call Center, opening on April 3.

When foreigners receive care at a medical facility, this service provides translation via phone for communication taking place between foreign individuals and medical facilities. For example, it assists with questions foreigners have for medical facilities, as well as assists with contact from medical facilities to foreigners.

In addition, the service can provide information on medical institutions providing care, as well as information regarding the Japanese medical system via phone.

You can reach them 24 hours a day at 092-286-9595. Service is available in 14 languages, including English, Chinese, Korean, and Thai! The service is free, but telephone provider fees may apply.

In addition to the Multilingual Medical Information Service Call Center, the Fukuoka Asian Medical Support Service also provides the Temp Service of Medical Interpreter upon a request being made by a care facility. The number to call is 092-734-3035. Calls are taken weekdays between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Services are currently available in English, Chinese and Korean, with the introduction of services in Thai and Vietnamese planned for sometime during the 2017 fiscal year.
