Here's information from the Fukuoka City International Center about the Home Visit Program for International Students. The Home Visit Program introduces Japanese families in Fukuoka interested in international exchange, to international students enrolled in colleges, junior colleges, language schools, or other such organizations in the Fukuoka metropolitan area, providing the opportunity for them to meet regularly and deepen mutual friendship and understanding.

Have you ever thought, “I want to get to know more about Japan!” or, “I just don’t have time to do a homestay!”? This is a program that gives you the chance to engage in exchange with a Japanese family in their home. Why not give it a try? Participants visit Japanese host families at their home and enjoy time together freely, such as conversation over meals.

The period of exchange between host families and foreign students is for three months, from September until November. There are openings for twenty participants. For further information, please visit the homepage.

And, there is also an announcement about free consultation regarding immigration, residency and nationality for foreigners. It is made available at the Fukuoka City International Center by the Fukuoka City International Foundation.

To maintain a safe and comfortable life in Japan, it is necessary for foreign residents to have correct knowledge about residency status and term of stay regulations. Are there any questions or concerns you have? A gyousei-shoshi, or administrative lawyer, from the Fukuoka Gyosei-shoshi Lawyers Association, who specializes in such matters, will answer your questions and offer consultation about topics such as the Japanese immigration system and residency status.

Consultations are held every second Sunday of the month. On June 11, consultation will be available from 1 to 4 PM. Please note you are required to register by 3:30 PM.

There are English and Chinese translators present, and so consultation in English, Chinese and Japanese does not require a reservation. For consultation in other languages, please contact the Fukuoka City International Center at least one week prior to your visit, as an interpreter might be arranged. And, confidentiality is guaranteed. Please feel at ease to make use of these services, no matter how simple a question you may have.

일본인 가정을 방문하는 ‘유학생 홈비지트’에 참가해 보세요.

홈비지트는 일본을 더욱 알고 싶으신 분들뿐만 아니라 홈스테이할 시간이 없는 분도
일본인 가정에서 교류할 수 있는 프로그램입니다. 지속적인 교류를 희망하는 일본인 가정에서 함께 식사를 하면서 대화를 즐기는 등 서로 자유로운 방식으로 교류하면서 우호친선과 상호이해를 도모합니다.
